The West Palm Beach Brewery and Wine Vault celebrated Cinco de Mayo with an homage to recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) protections. Known as Dreamers, these immigrants typically arrived in the U.S. with their families as minors and have been allowed to continue to pursue their educational goals under the provisions of DACA. The West Palm Beach Brewery crafted a unique brew to honor these dedicated individuals and to celebrate the Cinco de Mayo holiday in style.
Dreamers Lager
The Mexican beer created by West Palm Beach Brewery and Wine Vault is known as Dreamers Lager and was made available starting on May 2, 2018. It comes during a heated debate in the U.S. about the ways in which immigration should be handled. DACA was cancelled late last year and was only recently reinstated by a federal judge, making this homage especially poignant for many of those being honored. For many Dreamers, the U.S. is the only home and culture they can remember.
T-Shirts and Beer
The homage created by the West Palm Beach Brewery does not stop with the brewing of Dreamers Lager. Limited-edition t-shirts are also being made available with embroidered Monarch butterflies that represent the transformative journey of immigrants in our country. By purchasing the lager and t-shirts, patrons of the brewery can show their support for Dreamers and other immigrants in the West Palm Beach area.
Protecting the Rights of Dreamers
For many of those currently protected under DACA, working with a West Palm Beach immigration lawyer can be a good way to establish permanent legal residency and to earn U.S. citizenship and the privileges and rights that go along with that status. A qualified and experienced West Palm Beach immigration lawyer can often provide the legal counsel and support Dreamers need to stay in this country legally. This is especially critical given the current political climate and the threats posed to DACA recipients and undocumented immigrants currently in this country.
